Summer Tour 2016

DSC_0162

On June 1st, I will be traveling back to El Salvador with Trevor Jenkins to work with some of these students once again! Almost everyone in this picture is deaf and part of our WAVE team in El Salvador. From June 1-11, we will be working together with them, performing songs and having a day camp with games, Bible studies and worship.

Amazon FiresOne of the things many of you are aware of is that we have been helping sponsor many of these kids with school supplies and helping them with their education. As part of that effort, we are bringing down several Amazon Fires that were donated for them to use in the school for reading and learning.

Not only are we brings some to the deaf kids but we are also able to give a couple to Daniel who is working teaching English to the students who are victims of gang violence.

Daniel meets with these students once-a-week teaching them English, tutoring them and also hosting Bible studies. God is using him in a great way to introduce these kids to a new way of life from gangs and also in Christ. Continue to pray for them as gang violence is a huge issue in El Salvador. In fact, El Salvador is the murder capital of the world. For more information about this, read this article: El Salvador Murder Capital.

These pics were taken on my last trip when we were able to give them school supplies donated from people in the USA. Please keep them in your prayers.

Another cool thing we get to be part of is hosting a camp for unbelievers on June 3-5. I’ll be the keynote speaker sharing the gospel on how God is searching for people and has come for them to enter into a relationship with them through Jesus Christ. Please keep this event in your prayers as we love people into God’s Kingdom.

Would you consider helping me get back to El Salvador this October? This trip and your help will allow us to provide another skate demo with prizes, but supplies for the skate shop to start the business, provide help for the work project of the retaining wall in the community, provide supplies for a gospel outreach within another community and cover our expenses in the country for travel and food. We are excited to also be working with a Christian deaf school and through our v2h mission house, excited to be helping the deaf learn life skills to share the gospel and grow in Christ. Rosendo And South Africa

IMG-20141113-WA0000

Hey, I am Rosendo! I am 19 years old and graduated from high school this year. This fall I started an internship at Metro World Child.

What is it? Metro World Child is a children’s ministry founded by Pastor Bill Wilson. We reach about 120,000 kids worldwide, every week.

I’m in New York City right now to have a deeper faith in God, but also to get a concrete dream or desire for the rest of my life.
I was sure I was going to go back home to Germany to study, but God put a desire in my heart to become more equipped with Him. He showed me, through prayer and a “slap in my face” moment, that he has a other plans for me right now.

Pastor Bill Wilson once talked about an internship in South Africa. They need support and only have 4 spots available. I never had a heart for Africa, but in the moment he said it, my heart started to pound so fast that it was clear to be God’s call. He then began to open the doors quickly! I was in a meeting with Pastor Bill when he took his phone out during the meeting and called the Pastor in Africa. A few moments later I was accepted for the Internship.

Now I have an internship in South Africa that will help to reach hundreds of kids in Johannesburg. It starts right after Christmas, but I still need my Visa and plane ticket. That is why I need prayer and  support to raise money for my internship.

Anything you can give, no matter how small, will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Give a donation here: Gofundme:Rosendo

AUGUST NEWS AND UPDATES

What a whirlwind of a month! I can’t believe that August is already gone and we are into September 2 days now. Let me take a few minutes and catch you up on what the end of the summer has been like.

German mission v2h header

The German Team at Fernbank Museum

It wasn’t long after George Camp in Miami ended that we traveled back to meet the German team traveling back from Montgomery, AL. Vision 2 Hear and New Vision Church were hosting the team of 13 from Germany for about 9 days. In that time with the mission team, we attended a Braves game, the Aquarium, Coco-Cola Factory, Fernbank Museum, among many other adventures. It was an awesome experience to host these students from Germany, develop some new relationships and hopefully open a door for a future trip there in the next year or two. For more information on the German Team and all they did, read this link: German Team

Saying good-bye to Jan-Niklas

Saying good-bye to Jan-Niklas

It was with much sadness that as the German Team left, so did our German Intern, Jan-Niklas Schmidt. Jan-Niklas served as an intern for close to 6 months, traveling with me and working with our church in the band and youth ministry. He did a great job I must say! He was a great worker and huge asset, helping drive sometimes, performing in sign at different venues and just being a friend to kids and students wherever we went. Jan-Niklas was a blessing to have with us for the season and now he is back in Germany, preparing for his schooling which begins soon. To read more about Jan-Niklas and his time with V2H, check out his blog here: Becoming Jan-Niklas

Within a couple of days of Jan leaving, I traveled with three others to Dallas, Texas for a wedding ceremony. A former Intern, Nick Poole, got married on August 10. Nick had spent a year in Germany (which is how we got hooked up with the German team and Jan-Niklas in the first place) putting together baseball camps. He has done several camps now there.

Nick used to live in Snellville, GA and was among the first to be traveling with me as an intern. He started signing through his church ministry called Power Signs and went on to do a lot of work with George Camps, the Nigeria mission project and other performances throughout the US. Nick left V2H and graduated from Liberty University with a degree in Youth Ministry.  He’s always been a  good friend of the ministry and like a brother to me and I am very happy for and proud of him. We had a great time at the wedding for he and Maribeth Gillis and I wish them the very best for their new lives together. For more pics and info on their wedding, check out this page: Nick’s wedding

It was a week later that another former intern, Shane Vicry of TN got married. As many of you may know, Shane traveled with George for about a year and was the one that we officially started the intern program with. Nick had been doing all of these things previous to Shane but Shane was the first “outsider” that stepped into the program. As with all of my interns, we had lots of fun, too many stories to share, and meaningful times together.

Since leaving V2H, Shane graduated from Bryan College and worked as a car salesman in TN. He and his new wife were married on August 17th. I wish them both the very best as they relocate to Washington DC for Maddie to go to law school…are they crazy??? I’m sure they will do just fine! For more on their wedding check out this page: Shane’s Wedding

A few days after the Shane’s wedding, I left for NC. My mom was in the process of purchasing a new home. For the last few months, we have been house hunting as she is ready to make a move into a newer, more stable home. With all my travels, I have only been able to look online, so it was imperative that I go look at this place before the closing on August 25.

The Korean church and WAVE Team

The Korean church and WAVE Team

While in town, I met with the youth group at the Korean church, worked on a couple of new songs with them, prepared them for the Parkview performance and spoke at Sunday service for the Korean congregation.  As I already noted in another post, we launched a new WAVE team and had a great time of ministry at the Parkview choir worship night.

Upon reviewing all the info, seeing the house firsthand and of course praying, with great gratitude, Mom closed on the house on August 25 at 10am with no issues. Now she has a great place to live, host her small group Bible study and fix tons of Korean food! Over the next few months she will move out of the old home and we will make decisions around the first of the year as to what to do with that place. Thanks for your prayers for her and us as we continue to transition her to a new life and new home.

Upcoming Events

With school back in session, life takes on new and different work. I am still serving at New Vision Church but no longer as youth pastor. I resigned that position back in May so as to allow the church to have a regular person that could meet with students regularly. I am now serving as the creative arts/mission pastor. I am grateful to my pastor, Alan Parker and the church for their continued support of me and the work I do with Vision 2 Hear.

I am leaving this Sunday for a two week stay in Miami, where I’ll be the worship leader and key speaker for three schools as they host their Spiritual Emphasis weeks. The first week will be with Christ Fellowship Academy in Palmetto Bay and the second week, I’ll be speaking and leading at King’s Christian school in the morning and Miami Christian in the afternoon. On the weekend in between, I’ll be at my good friend, Phil Underwood’s church in the Keys. Trevor and I will be performing in their evening service.

Jorge Serves in Iceland

Jorge Serves in Iceland

Regrettably, we are canceling the 14-4-14 effort. There has been so much going on with V2H in the states and with Jorge in Iceland, Romania, and El Salvador, that we have not been able to get things together to bring a group of this size together to get them here in December. Jorge has been traveling abroad for 6 months and most recently interviewed for a job here in the states in Woodstock, GA. It’s very possible that he may get the job and of course, that has also given us reason to not push to try and make 14-4-14 happen; just so much change going on.

But with that, Trevor Jenkins (the newest intern) and I, along with a couple people from my church are heading to Nicaragua on October 18-the 27th. Jorge will meet us there to lead some leadership workshops and work on helping in the village of Padre Ramos. Then Jorge, Trevor and I will take the bus back to El Salvador and be there from the 27-November 4. In ES, we will do some of the same leadership training for our WAVE Team there and work with my friend Mario and help him with his church plant.

Then just after Thanksgiving, it looks like I will be joining a couple of guys from my church to lead a team to India. We will possibly be gone from November 29- December 11. While there we will be working with an orphanage that my church sponsors, traveling to several churches planted by our friend Pastor Rajendra, and speaking numerous times in those churches.

Please keep me in your prayers as I seek to stay connected to all of our teams, coordinate these trips and minister in the various ways God is opening up for me. If you would like to help contribute toward the expenses of these mission projects and make a donation, anything you can give will be a huge help! Costs for NICA/ES will be about $1000 more to cover me and Trevor and India will be about $2000. If you’d like to make a donation, you can do so online by following this link: donate

Thanks so much! I’ll keep you posted as things move along with V2H!

Nicaragua Review

SAM_4318

What an awesome trip! This was the second phase of my trip out of the country in October, 2013. I took a bus from El Salvador to Nicaragua. The bus ride was about 12 hours. I slept most of the way, having taken some motion sickness medicine. After arriving at the airport hotel, I met up with my Pastor from the USA who had arrived by plane to also serve with me in Padre Ramos. So Pastor Alan and I stayed the night in Managua.

SAM_4246Reynaldo Miranda, a gentleman who serves with the ministry at Padre Ramos, drove three hours to meet us and take us back to the ranchero. We enjoyed the ride, stopping to get supplies and groceries on the way. Once at the camp, we quickly settled in and met with the WAVE team that evening to give them their ministry shirts. They were all very happy to receive such a gift from the USA. The team in Nicaragua started about a year ago and how they have grown! It was awesomely amazing to see how God has used our ministry to train and equip them with skills like signing, which not only helps them with worship but also learn english in another way!SAM_4063

During the few days in Padre Ramos we had several practices with the team working on songs like Let Them See You in Me by JJ Weeks Band,  Everything Glorious by David Crowder Band, Revelation Song by Phillips Craig and Dean, Happy Day by Tim Hughes, and O Holy Night by Group 1 Crew. They embraced all the songs and made great progress in each of the songs.

We were all able to go to lunch together at Tip Top one day. It was a lot of fun being with the team and being able to share a meal as well as share a ministry opportunity together. After the meal we went to the “dump” to serve the people who have been displaced for the last 10 years. We brought them bags of beans and rice, giving out about 50 bags each. We also performed several songs in sign language, sharing the gospel with the children who gathered around.

SAM_4134

During the time at the dump we took a tour through the community seeing some of the harsh realities for these people. Many of them harvest items from the local trash dump to construct their homes. They also seek plastics and recyclable items for money. The water they hunt for these things in is basically sewage, foaming up as it plunges down. Once again, I was reminded of how fortunate I am but also the needs that so many have around the world.

SAM_4124

Our second task was serving the people of Ten Tall. We bought vegetables and chopped them up for a soup. We took a boat to the location, walking through the water to finally arrive. Once there we obtained the local huge cooking pot and begin the hour and fifteen minute cooking process. As the soup finished, we played with kids, kicking a soccer ball and watching others play. Just before eating, we did some songs in sign language for them and once again, they loved it. I have been to this community 5 times and with each time, their reception of what we do in worship grows. Not only did they participate they wanted more! There were about 60 or so people that we served soup, with little leftover. Everyone enjoyed the food, the message but we were the ones once again blessed.SAM_4279

SAM_4409The last two evenings we hosted a Bible service in which my Pastor from New Vision Church in Fayetteville spoke. He shared about God’s purpose in creating us on the first night. The second night he followed up speaking about the faith required to accomplish God’s purpose. Both were great services, attended well by those from the community. We ended our time the final night giving out some gifts collected by people from our church in Fayetteville. Everyone present received 3 or 4 items each as a gift of love from America and God.SAM_4411

From this trip we were made aware of a couple of needs that we will be seeking to meet. One child there has a huge place on his arm that seems to be a tumor or broken bone of some sort. He needs an operation and we are seeking details about the surgery and cost.

Another thing was a young disabled boy in Ten Tall who could use an all-terrain wheelchair. His mother carries him everywhere and he’s not a small boy! They could really use some sort of help. We are going to investigate getting something where he and she can function more freely. If you know or are able to help with either of these things or would like to make a simple contribution toward the work we are doing in Nicaragua, please contact us or click to donate.

Africa Building

Since my 3rd trip to Nigeria in 2004, World Care Ministry and Vision 2 Hear have been working tirelessly on constructing a building. Finally the day has come and the building is complete and being used! We give God praise and glory and are thankful for the many people who carried blocks, mixed cement, dug out footings, and chopped down brush. For all of you who traveled to Ututu over the last 9 years, here’s pictures to celebrate over.

The school is meeting currently with 150 students enrolled. Another clinic is being built on the property and God is moving among the people. George plans to return to Nigeria once again in March of 2014 view the building personally. If anyone is interested in making the trip, please contact for further information.

Charity Water: Let It FLOW

Last Winter we started collecting change as part of our Change For A Change Campaign. We are bringing that to a finish at our WAVE Conference this year and want to make one final big push to collect as much change as possible. With our theme for the conference being FLOW, we want to challenge all of our teams to collect as much change as possible for the next couple of weeks and bring it at the WAVE CONFERENCE. This will serve as your entrance fee. We will recognize the team with the most funds collected between now and then. So team leaders, rally your groups and LET IT FLOW!
