Helping Those In Need

Even though George has not been to Nigeria for a few years now, Vision 2 Hear is continuing to support and help several people there. Below you will see pics of several people that V2H has reached with help over 2016 and provided funds for medical assistance along with material needs. Please continue to pray for our friends in Nigeria as life there is difficult. In all, we have sent funds to 6 people in Nigeria this year, several on a monthly basis to assist with living. Thanks to each of you who have given to help those in need!

We helped Aboy with some funds when part of his house collapsed.

Ike and Aboy are a couple of the young men we have helped in the past.

El Salvador Continuing To Expand

The pics were taken around Christmastime 2016. Vision 2 Hear was able to send down a little bit of money to help support three of our missionaries and their work for Christmas. The pics demonstrate some of the things they were able to do with the funds and the people they are reaching for Christ. Please continue to pray for our friends in El Salvador and the work God has opened up for us to do working with so many who need to know Christ.

Summer Tour 2016

On June 1st, I will be traveling back to El Salvador with Trevor Jenkins to work with some of these students once again! Almost everyone in this picture is deaf and part of our WAVE team in El Salvador. From June 1-11, we will be working together with them, performing songs and having a day camp with games, Bible studies and worship.

Amazon FiresOne of the things many of you are aware of is that we have been helping sponsor many of these kids with school supplies and helping them with their education. As part of that effort, we are bringing down several Amazon Fires that were donated for them to use in the school for reading and learning.

Not only are we brings some to the deaf kids but we are also able to give a couple to Daniel who is working teaching English to the students who are victims of gang violence.

Daniel meets with these students once-a-week teaching them English, tutoring them and also hosting Bible studies. God is using him in a great way to introduce these kids to a new way of life from gangs and also in Christ. Continue to pray for them as gang violence is a huge issue in El Salvador. In fact, El Salvador is the murder capital of the world. For more information about this, read this article: El Salvador Murder Capital.

These pics were taken on my last trip when we were able to give them school supplies donated from people in the USA. Please keep them in your prayers.

Another cool thing we get to be part of is hosting a camp for unbelievers on June 3-5. I’ll be the keynote speaker sharing the gospel on how God is searching for people and has come for them to enter into a relationship with them through Jesus Christ. Please keep this event in your prayers as we love people into God’s Kingdom.

Vision 2 Hear Weekly Update

AWAKEN 2016 LOGO FINAL

It’s Monday morning and I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Recovering from the India trip has been a little more difficult this time for some reason….maybe it was the schedule? Or the temperature? But I have a head cold and sinus issues and I’m still trying to get my sleep pattern back to USA times (and then there’s Daylight savings next weekend)! Currently I’m in NC, and I should be here until about the 16th before heading to Florida.

The NC WAVE Team after the 30-Hour Fast Forward Love Feast.

We finalized our Love Feast 30-hour Fast Forward this year with several from the NC Wave team sharing in the event. We began the fast at noon on Friday and ended at 6pm on Saturday. Everyone fasted on their own this year from their homes and then we gathered together at Golden Corral of share a meal together to celebrate God’s blessing and what He accomplished through the fasting times. This year our totals raised during this Fast Forward season was $3000.00.
We will split it so that Daniel’s school fees are paid and then the rest will go toward helping children of gangs and our deaf students through Vision 2 Hear El Salvador. Thank you all very much for all that you have given to make this effort so fruitful!

The 20 Year Anniversary Celebration

DSC_0736As many of you know, Vision 2 Hear is in partnership with The Korean Baptist Church of Havelock, NC, which is the only ethnic church located in Havelock. For the last 20 years, The Korean Baptist Church has been faithful in reaching out to Korean/Americans with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This past Sunday several churches gathered to celebrate the wonderful blessing HKBC has been and to pray forward with all that God has awaiting.

The NC WAVE Team kicked things off with a couple of Sign Language songs, which really got things moving along quickly. With performances from The Havelock Baptist and Jacksonville Baptist, the 2-hour event was filled with songs and worship of the Lord, telling of His great worth and praising Him for all He has done through the ministry.

DSC_0663Reverend James Lee from Denver Korean Baptist Church in Denver Colorado was the keynote speaker for the evening and gave a great message about the real riches stored up in Heaven when we give our all to Jesus. He spoke in English and Korean, self-translating along the way.

As the worship service closed, it was far from over. We still had the food and cake to enjoy. With tons of Korean cuisine to choose from, everyone was quite satisfied by the end of the night having taken in everything from kimchi to eggrolls. As a token of remembrance, each family received a small hand towel from the HKBC.

Thanks for your continued prayers for the Havelock Korean Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Havelock as we continue our partnership in reaching this county and surrounding areas with the gospel.

Miami SPEW 2015

DSC_1243

It’s been a busy time lately. Nothing new with that though. I just returned from Miami where I was joined with Mike Liebler of The Youth Culture Report. While there, I was able to share in several Christian schools for the chapels.

The week started with me sharing at Christ Fellowship Academy. I’ve been to this school for 13 SPEW weeks over the last 14 years. It is always a blessing to go back and be able to be with my Miami family of friends. During the week I was able to share each morning around 8:30am with children ranging from 1st-6th grades and then on the last day, the youngest children in pre-k joined us also.

DSC_0278One of the highlights this year at CFA was the chance to share many songs with the students who are currently part of the CFA worship team. Each week they are being taught by former V2H Miami WAVE Team member Vicky Jimenez. The school offers a program each week where students stay after and learn songs in sign to lead in chapel services. The songs the students are working on are not easy either! Twice in the week the team performed The Lawnmower Dance, Superhero, and No One Like You.

The second school I was able to visit and share at 3 times during the week was King’s Christian School. I’ve been to this school several times also in the past and have been able to develop a great friendship with the staff there as well. The students are always energetic here too. During the week we had several students on stage performing the songs with us as you can see from this picture.

The week also took me to two other schools for a day each. I spent Wednesday afternoon at Princeton Academy, a place I have been several times located near the Church of The Nazarene in Homestead. Then on Friday I was able to be at Kendall Christian School and share with their whole student body. The shows were much the same in both locations, with students joining in on the faster worship and crazy songs and then me sharing an object lesson on soaking up God’s Word.

In the course of the time in Miami, I was able to share with over 1000 students and teachers the message of Christ and Vision 2 Hear! I am so grateful to the staff at each of these locations for opening their doors and giving me the opportunity each year to come and be part of the spiritual growth in their schools.

Another great thing that happened while in Miami was that the students at Christ Fellowship Academy collected school supplies for three deaf schools in El Salvador. In all, they collected two huge bins (I’m talking like over 80 pounds) of materials ranging from markers and pens to other various school supplies we take for granted here in the states. I am really looking forward to my journey back to El Salvador soon to deliver them; I can’t wait to see those kids’ faces! Thanks so much CFA; you guys are AWESOME!
